We're glad you're here.
Overalls and Lab Coats is a family-run site created by Sharon and Austin Nissley. We live in rural Pennsylvania with our four kids, and this project brings together the things we care about most: nourishing food, homegrown rhythms, thoughtful experimentation, and practical DIY.
Sharon writes most of the posts and speaks in first person; Austin builds the technology and planning tools behind the scenes. When you see "we," it refers to both of us. When you see "I," it is Sharon's voice as the primary writer and recipe developer.
Our purpose is simple: help families move confidently from soil to science to DIY. This page shares who we are, what we make, and the experience behind the recipes, guides, and resources you find here.

Sharon develops and tests our recipes, meal plans, and clean-living guides. She earned a Food Science degree from Penn State and brings research-backed kitchen know-how to the realities of feeding a busy family.

Austin Nissley

Austin builds the Overalls and Lab Coats site, publishing tools, and practical planning systems. Raised on a multi-generation family farm and trained in Information Science and Technology, he focuses on making the experience fast, useful, and easy to navigate.
